SUMMARY OF TRIALS: GROUND APPLICATIONS

Ground applications using a backpack sprayer equipped with THINVERT Nozzles and THINVERT formulations have been made for right-of-way brush control, weed, insect, and disease control in turf, perennial weed control in Christmas Trees, insecticide application to vegetable crops, and many other uses, at spray volumes of two to 5 gal/A, much lower than with conventional backpack applications.

In addition to foliar sprays, THINVERT applications to woody plants during the dormant season have been very successful. Triclopyr, glyphosate, dicamba, picloram, and imazapyr have been successfully applied as basal sprays, thin line sprays, and as dormant broadcast sprays to dense stands of brush. Concentrations of from 1% to 25% have given satisfactory results with combinations of the above herbicides. Triclopyr at 10% in THINVERT at volumes of 3 to 5 gal/A has controlled woody species as effectively as sprays applied in 10O% oil. A formulation of THINVERT containing anti-freeze has given equally good results in the dormant season.

Spot applications of THINVERT containing glyphosate, picloram, triclopyr, clopyralid, dicamba, or picloram have given excellent control of susceptible perennial weeds at low spray volumes.

Railroad weeds and roadside brush were controlled with THINVERT Nozzles spraying THINVERT formulations at a spray volume of 5 gal/A. ARSENAL, Oust, Garlon 3A and Krenite were used with excellent results.
